The authors describe the results of a thermogravimetric study and kinetic treatment of termogravimetric curves of the coal material of byproduct coke section of Cherepovetsk metallurgical plant (Severstal Company) with the use of 18 coal samples (6 ROM coals and 12 coal concentrates) from mines and beneficiation plants of Pechora and Kuznetsk basins. Relationships were established between the kinetic parameters of thermal degradation in an air medium (overall reaction order, pre-exponential factor, activation energy) and the composition and properties of coals (volatile-matter yield, ash content, content of leaning microcomponents, vitrinite reflectance index). The authors demonstrate the possibility of describing the temperature curves of the loss of mass of coking blends on the basis of termogravimetric curves of coal concentrates used in coal blends.
