PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SALTS OF HUMIC ACIDS

The authors have studied the ability of native and sulfonated sodium humates (produced from brown coal of the Aleksandrovsk coalfield) to form emulsions, the adsorption at the aqueous solution-air interface and the specific features of the dissolution of these compounds in water. It has been found that sodium sulfohumates exhibit a much higher surface activity at the liquid-liquid and liquid-gas interfaces than the native forms. It is shown that sodium sulfohumates do not form micelles in aqueous solutions over a wide range of variation of the concentrations.
