Information science and the logic of models

Various ways exist in which a branch of science may be understood: via the scientific communities (see [1-3]) practising it, via the questions the answering of which justifies its claim to being a science, via its objects of study, via the methods and tools which it applies, via the techniques on which its arguments are based, via its position in the classification system of Academia, via its division into subdisciplines, via analogy in respect of another, known branch of science, or via the fundamental objective towards which it orients itself. The differences among the ways mentioned stem from the different perspectives from which it is viewed, each permitting different aspects of its manifestation to become prominent. The same holds true when one tries to grasp the concept of information science.
