A Study of User Requirements for COTS: Computer Off-the-Shelf Software Solutions

摘要

This article discusses issues relating to user requirements in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software solutions. The research presents solutions in the form of three new standards to be applied when adopting a COTS software solution. The first standard is for a COTS software life cycle, the second is a standard for COTS software solution user requirements life cycle, and the third is a complete checklist to be applied to assist in completing the requirements. These three standards were developed after surveying the literature and based on recent major COTS software solutions implementations.
