Software Quality Professional reviewed Peopleware in 2002. It is a classic in software engineering literature, as it is a widely cited, highly regarded book that placed an important stake in the ground regarding software development culture. The question becomes, if one has read one of the prior editions, is this one worth having? The answer is that about one-third of the material has been revised, so, in a sense, it is a new book again. Tim Lister has commented on some of the changes. For example, the "rant" on big methodologies has been "toned way back," largely because of the growth in acceptance of agile values and principles within organizations. A whole chapter on leadership has been added, making the case that real leadership on teams is not what DeMarco and Lister believe is the "hot term" talked about.
