Sams Teach Yourself Node.js in 24 Hours by George Ornbo is a book that teaches the reader how to create end-to-end Javascript applications using Node.js. The book is divided into 24 one-hour sessions. Each session is loaded with information. I found myself spending much more than an hour on many of the sessions. There were many Try it Yourself exercises where I found myself absorbed in experimenting with the code and the framework. The extra time was well spent because it helped reinforce many of the ideas the author was trying to convey. The book really runs the gamut on all things Node.js. The author does an excellent job on covering all aspects of the language - from how it is installed, to how it's tested and debugged, to how a Node.js application is deployed. As a web developer it's important for me to have at least a basic understanding on each of these topics when learning a new language.
