Obstacle #2: The Unknown. The reason the client's three questions had gone unanswered so long was simple: Answering them would be an act of faith. The internal IT development group wrestled with the question, "Can you do it?" At the time, Visual Studio .NET had been out just long enough that the group hated to start such a significant project with a dated toolset, such as Visual Basic 6. Some of the developers had taken a .NET class, but had no proven track record.
