By the time you see this, maybe, Election Day will have passed and the United States may have a new president - or not. As I write this column in early October, the race is tightening, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney moving into striking distance of President Barack Obama after trailing much of the summer. Who knows how it will end? It could end up a landslide - at least in the Electoral College - but I think it will be very close.
