摘要

Foreland basin is a significant component of orogen. It is also importune for basin research. The previous works divided it into two genetic types, i.e., peripheral foreland basin and retro-arc foreland basin. The current evolution models of foreland basin, established with a precondition of single foreland basin, though impressively capable in predicting particular stratal architecture, appear to be too simple and theoretical. In fact, the foreland evolution of peripheral system is not the same as retro-arc system, and more complicated than the popular accepted conception.
