Substantial power efficiency improvements are possible in communication systems if a moderate amount of nonlin- earity is permitted at the transmitter amplifier and corrected for at the receiver. The Volterra series is a suitable model for many power amplifiers, and is readily incorporated into bandpass and multipath communication channel models. Existing fixed point equalization algorithms for Volterra channels place restrictive conditions on the locations of the Zeros of the first-order kernel.
