A tough, steel character that is prepared to roll up its sleeves, spit on its hands and set to work: that was the overall impression made by Halmatic's latest multi-role vessel, 20m length overall, just prior to her delivery to the Clyde where she is by now in gainful employment with owner Gareloch Support Services (Plant) Ltd, writes George Marsh. The relatively genteel waters of the top end of Portsmouth Harbour may not compare with the rugged Clyde and adjacent lochs where Laura M will spend most of her time, but they did make possible a short demonstration foray from Halmatic's Portchester facility.
