Callan Marine, a family-owned dredging business in Texas, reports that construction work has begun on its forthcoming dredger General Bradley, with delivery anticipated early next year. General Bradley is being built by Hagler Systems at Halimar Shipyard in Louisiana, which specialises in producing dredgers, push boats, offshore tugs and barges. The vessel will measure 103.9m in length, 15.8m in breadth and 3.2m in depth, and will draw 2.01m. Its hybrid diesel-electric power arrangement will include three ABC 12DZC engines, generating a combined 6,905kW. The dredger will be used for brown water division projects. The main engineering of the dredge design, and the supply of its components, has been arranged by APT Offshore in the Netherlands. This will grant General Bradley a minimum digging depth of just under 3m and a maximum digging depth of 250m.
