GlobalFoundries became more global last month, when Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Investment Co. LLC (ATIC) agreed to pay -$3.9B to acquire CharteredrnSemiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. (Singapore).rnGlobalFoundries CEO Doug Grose will be the CEO of the combined operation, with Chartered CEO Chia SongrnHwee serving as chief operating officer. The purchase, which comes just six months after the formation of GlobalFoundries, adds a major Asian base to GlobalFoundries, which now operates two former AMD fabs in Dresden, Germany.
