Development of SFP Transceiver for DWDM Applications

摘要

The authors have successfully developed an optical transceiver for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) applications with small form-factor pluggable (SFP) platform. Miniaturization and low power consumption are achieved by developing the three techniques; a compact coaxial transmitter optical sub assembly (TOSA) with a peltier device, optimized heat radiation structure, and high-density mounting board with newly developed transceiver IC. In addition, optimization of TOSA design and precise wavelength control by CPU have allowed the transceiver to have a good wavelength stability which sufficiently meets the 100 GHz grid spacing with only temperature control of direct modulated LD. Moreover, an excellent characteristic was achieved in long-haul transmission.
