Tort Law in road accidents. The involvement of police vehicles

Some members of Law Enforcement must use motor vehicles to fulfill its constitutional mission. To face up to traffic accidents, the Spanish Criminal Policy has been implemented criminal, procedural, administrative and civil lines of acting that affect the policemen as citizens and officials.That Policy includes the latest changes in Tort Law for traffics accidents that have increased the amount of the legal motor insurance and enhanced the transaction through a system of compensation offer. In order to the road accident victim could achieve the economic recovery there are interferences between criminal and civil jurisdictions to which one might also add the administrative procedure when there are police officers involved in the accident. In this kind of cases is not always easy know how to choose the mosteffective way to get the damages. In Spain where each Enforcement Law depends on different Administration —Central, Autonomous and Local— needs prevention strategies and full defense of members of its Law Enforcement who are involved in traffic accidents during service.
