Interview With George Porter On Caltech's Institutional Archive Coda

The motivations behind Caltech CODA (Collection of Open Digital Archives) are at least threefold. Space is a premium resource on any college campus. With CODA the faculty may reclaim all of the space devoted to storing reprints of their publications. On a somewhat more elevated level, the library is able to pursue their mission of preserving and disseminating knowledge with a precise focus on the contributions from the Institute. Consequently, researchers the world over benefit from a new facility in discovering and accessing these contributions, regardless of their geographic location or institutional affiliations.
