Santos discusses the emerging scientific theory that the building blocks of life, such as amino acids and other molecular organisms, may have originated in space despite the damaging effects that space may have on such organisms. The findings of researchers have powerful implications for the emerging field of astrobiology, as the idea that life could exist elsewhere in the universe would gain legitimacy.
