Location of BRCA1 in Human Breast and Ovarian Cancer Cells

In their recent report, Yumay Chen et al. present data suggesting that the BRCA1 gene product is excluded from the nucleus in sporadic breast and ovarian cancer and in certain breast and ovarian cancer cell lines. Immunostaining with a single, nonaf-finity purified polyclonal antibody served as the criterion for establishing the subcellular localization of the protein. Here, we describe results that differ substantially from those of Chen et al. (1).
