Advances in computer processing power and in technologies such as genome sequencing have enabled scientists to generate and analyze vast amounts of data in order to understand the complex interactions found in biological processes-a relatively new and intriguingrnarea of research referred to as systems biology.rn"Systems biology is an extension of molecular biology," says Hiroki Ueda, head of the Laboratory for Systems Biology, at the CDB.
