Researchers to Head Yale University and UC Berkeley

This month, psychologist Peter Salovey and anthropologist Nicholas Dirks were picked to lead Yale University and the University of California (UC), Berkeley, respectively. Salovey, 54, is well-known for advancing studies of "emotional intelligence," described as the ability to monitor one's own and others' feelings, discriminate among them, and use this information to guide thinking and action.
