It's perhaps no surprise that amid downturned economies and shrinking numbers of traditional, tenure-track academic positions, postdoctoral fellows have become increasingly preoccupied with opportunities for career advancement. Every other year, Science Careers surveys several thousand current and former postdoctoral fellows mainly from the United States, Europe, and Asia about factors influencing their postdoctoral experience.
