The Great Guppy Experiment

David Reznick is on a first name basis with the hundreds of guppies living in a stretch of the Taylor River, a tropical mountain stream in Trinidad's Northern Range. Ditto for populations of these tiny fish in three other nearby streams, all headwaters of this Caribbean island's Guanapo River. For the past 4 years, this evolutionary biologist from the University of California, Riverside, and a cadre of dedicated interns and colleagues have made monthly treks up these streams to follow the lives of the guppies.
