For the second time, an appeals court in Washington, D.C., has ruled that patents on BRCA genes linked to breast and ovarian cancer are valid. Patent holder Myriad Genetics of Salt Lake City has come under fire from medical organizations and scientists, including Nobelist James Watson, who opposed the patents in an amicus brief in June.
