Life Science Summit Held with Great Success

The Life Science Summit conference was held on April 17 with the participation of 500 top people from the political and business worlds. The opening address was given by a member of the House of Representatives Koichi Kato as Chairman of the Diet Members' Promotion Alliance for Life Sciences (DMPALS) who said "Although Japan has been delayed in its contribution to the decoding of the genome sequence, we at the DMPALS are determined to make every effort possible in competing effectively with other countries in the field of post-genome research. Today, it is very significant that all persons concerned in bioscience and in biotechnology in Japan for the first time have the opportunity to meet together for discussions."
