The Second Life Science Summit, subtitled "Opening Up the Life Science Industrial Revolution" was held on Monday 22 October 2001 at the Tokyo Prince Hotel. The Summit was held with collaboration between the Diet Members Life Sciences Promotion League and the leaders of governmental ministries, industry and the universities. About 600 active participants in the fields of the life sciences and bio-industry from the governmental, industrial and university sectors attended the Summit. They exchanged opinions on the future orientation of the life sciences and bio-industry, and expressed viewpoints on the creation of new industries, with special attention being given to specific issues and their solutions.
