Required Form and the Future Prospect of Environmental Management Systems at Universities

In 2001, Japan saw a surge of ISO14001 certified/registered universities. In the past half year alone, as many as eight universities acquired certification, bringing the total count to 13, including Musashi Institute of Technology which was certified ahead of others in 1998 (Table 1). Today, this wave is gradually spreading even to kindergartens, elementary schools, secondary schools, and high schools.
