Test on Collapse Behavior of Structural Systems

摘要

Damage observed in the 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu (Kobe) Earthquake highlighted the importance of accumulating real data by experimentation regarding the earthquake response, damage, and collapse of structures. Full-scale tests to complete collapse in real time are indispensable. A newly-built large shaking table owned by E-Defense is introduced, and its mission, strength, and status are outlined. Ongoing research projects including the NEES/E-Defense program are described.
