Current trends in desert ecology

摘要

Very little research on the ecology of desert organisms was carried out before the 1950s. Attention was directed in the first instance to the basic adaptations of desert animals and plants. This was followed by a number of ecophysiological studies which, during the following decades, expanded into many other aspects of autecological research. More recently, however, attention has been directed more towards biotic interactions and the study of desert communities.
