Selected papers of the Brazilian Symposium on Programming Languages 2014 (SBLP'14)

This special issue of Science of Computer Programming contains extended versions of the two best papers published in the Brazilian Symposium on Programming Languages (SBLP 2014). This symposium happens annually since 1996, and it is the most important conference related to the design and implementation of programming languages in Brazil. In 2014, the SBLP had its 18th edition. In that occasion, the symposium received 31 submissions authored by researchers from six different countries. Each one of these papers had been reviewed by at least three experts, and 14 papers were chosen to be published in the proceedings of the conference. These proceedings were edited by Springer-Verlag, and are currently available as Lecture Notes in Computer Science, number 8771.
