摘要

Morphology, composition, and distribution of gun shot residue (GSR) particles of lead free primers are gaining importance and demanding research attention. Only a few studies have been reported on the characteristics of lead free primers during firing. This research work examines the morphology and composition of GSR particles of lead free primers manufactured and marketed by Federal BallistiClean. Attention was given to the elemental characteristics and distribution of particles as a function of firing distance and collection areas. Spot analysis and position-tagged spectrometry were performed in an effort to characterize specificity of the particles.
