Testing times on campus

Security is a priority for any college, especially when it comes to students' privacy and protection of critical information. At Odessa College, we realized security on our web servers was integral to maintaining the integrity of such proprietary data. After all, a single intrusion on any of our web servers could jeopardize our students, our college and our reputation. The realization that we needed to invest in an extra layer of security for our web servers was compounded when we also experienced a defacement by tty0 around the first week of April 2001. Enlisting a Unicode exploit on our web server, the attack proved that further steps to securing our web servers, and the data on them, was a top priority.
