Today's threats and vulnerabilities

This month we are addressing application vulnerabilities and web-based threats. These two pieces of the risk equation are garnering attention lately as attackers focus on the low hanging fruit of web access and lightly protected applications. The thread that connects these two is the web. Vulnerabilities of web applications and the backend apps they serve have become major concerns. We looked at these two product groups because, together, they offer the promise of controlling one of the most sensitive gateways into the enterprise, especially for those organizations that develop custom applications that are accessed by customers from the web. Most predictions of attacks over the next few years center on the web. Securing web-based applications and their backend databases makes web-based attacks more difficult.
