The principal objective of the Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP) is to advance the professionalism of information security practitioners and thereby the professionalism of the industry as a whole. Richard Starnes points to the IISP as a model, being that it is an independent not-for-profit body governed by its members, ensuring standards of professionalism - for training, qualifications, operating practices and individuals.
