Job Crafting: An Unexplored Benefit of Friendships in Project Teams

摘要

To our knowledge, this is the first study to empirically examine the link between friendships in project teams and job crafting as well as the explanatory mechanisms of the relationship. The current research extends the field of management by identifying several critical antecedents of job crafting in teams. These results point us to a number of practical implications for 21st century managers who, to establish and maintain a competitive advantage with their human capital, need to find ways for project teams to be effective in a dynamic environment with competing demands. Promoting friendships allows team members to work cohesively, communicate more effectively, engage in open discussions, and push the status quo by expanding the boundaries of their work through creativity and innovation.
