Bulker fire injures three

Three seafarers have been injured in an engine-room explosion aboard the 1990-built 207,250dwt bulk carrier Marigold while it was alongside at Port Hedlands' Finucane Island in Western Australia. They were admitted to the nearby hospital at the Hedland Health Campus. The explosion, on 14 July, is thought to have been caused by a faulty generator. The subsequent fire was contained by firefighters who pumped the engine room full of fire-suppressing halon gas.
