Humanitarian aid organisations have condemned a decision by the Italian authorities to order the seizure of migrant search-and-rescue vessel Aquarius over the alleged disposal of contaminated waste in the country.Prosecutors from Catania in eastern Sicily claim discarded clothes worn by migrants on board the vessel during their voyage from Libya to Italy could have been contaminated with HIV, meningitis, and tuberculosis. They alleged the waste was illegally labelled by the ship's crew as "special waste" rather than "toxic waste".
