EES Rossii Joint Stock Company has formulated basic principles regarding the development of power grids up to 2010, indicating the need to create a range of reliable and long-lived switch units for currents up to 3150 A that can also perform protective circuit breaking at short-circuit currents up to 40 kA. Kontakt Scientific Production Facility specializes in the development — together with Lenin All-Russian Electrical-Engineering Institute (AEI) — and production of vacuum cutouts. Vacuum cutouts are advanced switch units for high-current electric circuits. The low contact burnup guarantees durability and high wear resistance. Kontakt vacuum cutouts employ vacuum chambers designed by AEI. Currently, Kontact mass-produces cutouts and switches of voltage classes 1.14, 10, and 35 kV at rated currents of 160-3150 A, capable of switching off currents of 4-31.5 kA. The vacuum chambers and vacuum switches produced are certified by the Tsentrosert quality system, accredited by the German Vouncil on Accreditation. The quality-control system for Kontakt vacuum switchgear meets the ISO 9001-1994/DIN ISO 9001-1994 requirements. The Kontakt test center, accredited by the Energosert system, conducts continuous endurance tests of equipment, permitting the maintenance of high quality and constant improvement in product design, while guaranteeing safe operation over long periods; the basic parameters are within the technical specifications and do not require additional regulation.
