In July 2003, after successful compliance tests, a magnetically controlled RTU-180,000/330-U1 three-phase shunting reactor (180 MV·A, 330 kV) went into operation at the Baranovichi 330-kV substation of the Belarus Brestenergo power system. The reactor was developed by the scientific and engineering center at Elektricheskie Upravlyaemye Reaktory (ELUR) Joint Stock Company. The equipment used in the reactor is produced by Zaporozhtransformator Joint Stock Company (the electromagnetic component of the reactor), Ramenskii Elektrotekhnicheskii Zavod Energiya Joint Stock Company (the neutralizing transformer), and Energiya-T Joint Stock Company, Tol'yatti (the transformer/converter units, control system, and current-distortion compensator). All-Russian Electrical-Engineering Institute (AEI) participated in the development of all the electrical components and in the research and tests.
