The 17th International Conference on Flexible Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing (FAIM 2007) continued its tradition by focusing on state-of-the-art research, best practices and future trends within the areas of regional and global competitiveness, and rapidly advancing technologies in flexible automation, information management, and intelligent manufacturing. As the world has been embracing the globalized economy, the conference paid much more attention to promoting research and education in the areas of global manufacturing and services. The conference indeed provided an active and effective communication forum for both researchers and practitioners in the focused fields.
