Protection of Slopes in Loose Rock

Soils which are not bound are called loose rock. Stabilization is the generic term here referring to measures taken for the protection of slopes, for increasing stability and the repair of landslides. For the protection of slopes the following should come into consideration: drainage measures, surfaces protection and erosion control measures, earthworks Solutions as well as massive and flexible supporting structures. When choosing the right protection measures landscape preservation and aesthetic aspects should be considered apart from geotechnical boundary conditions. Massive supporting structures such as gravity walls, cantilever retaining walls, bored pile walls, sheet piling or anchoring are not treated here.
