Whether the claim on the back cover of this 217-page collection of 11 essays that it is "essential reading for all students and professionals interested in the philosophical dimensions of risk" is valid or not, the book certainly could be classified as "recommended reading."rnAll the essays are written by acknowledged experts, but the level of treatment varies very widely, from the scholar-complex to layman-simple. There is also no single theme that characterizes the collection, no single thread that links the 11 essays. As the essays cover both philosophy (general aspects of the mind) and psychology (specific mental phenomena), a better title would have been "Philosophical and Psychological Perspectives."
