Ian baker, prolific architect and artist, has died aged 86. A true creative of the 20th century, he was born and educated in the first half and was professionally active throughout the second half, his principal inspirations being the thinkers of the early part of the century and the technologies of the later part. An innovative designer, known for beautifully detailed buildings that combined artistry with industrialism, Baker was strongly influenced by Picasso, Piper and Le Corbusier.
