For the first time in seven years, the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corp. (Atlanta) has expanded its Call2Recycle program to accept nickel-zinc batteries. With the service already recognizing nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal-hydride, lithium-ion and small sealed lead batteries, the addition of nickel-zinc batteries increases the types of batteries accepted by the program to five. "Expanding the scope of the program to include nickel-zinc batteries is a logical response to advancements in the portable power industry and the proliferation of new battery chemistries in the marketplace," said Greg Broe, RBRC's interim chief operating officer.
