Smart completions typically employ an outer string, such as perforated liner and/or a stand-alone screen, and an inner completion string provided with smart completion components such as permanent down hole gauges (PDHGs) and inflow control valves (ICVs). These completions are usually run in two trips. After the outer string has been hung off from casing with a liner hanger and/or packer, the inner string with the smart components, control lines, and other equipment such as sliding sleeves (SSDs), is run with the production tubing and production packer.
