Use of a sputter coater to produce fiducial marks for tomography alignment in the cryo tomography workflow

This research disclosure describes a new method of using a sputtering device (sputter coater) to add surface fiducials to a lamella to facilitate better alignment of images in tomography acquiring tilt series on a TEM. Alignment of TEM tilt series is a challenge for automation and throughput, for example in Cryo tomography. The new method has the opportunity to increase the throughput.
