Payments made through the automated clearing house (ACH) network now can be signed electronically to authenticate a consumer transaction, according to the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA). NACHA has approved an operating rules provision enabling any electronic signature that complies with the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce (E-SIGN) Act to comply with NACHA's requirements for "similarly authenticating" a consumer ACH debit authorization.
