CSIS Seeks Liability Laws To Boost Online Security

Comparing the Internet to highways with few traffic laws, a new report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) recommends allocation of liability laws and increased public-private sector collaboration as key steps to improving Internet security. The report, "Market Forces and Government Action in Securing Cyberspace," stresses that network security is vital to obtaining the full economic benefit of the Internet, but adds that America's computer networks are not secure, posing "unacceptable risks to America's critical infrastructures."
