Rear projection televisions have fallen out of favour in recent years, largely being replaced by flat panel plasma and LCD TVs. As a result, many people consider them unworthy of being repaired, and so when they start playing up they usually end up on the kerb waiting for a hard rubbish collection to take them to the local tip.rnBut there are some useful parts in rear projection TVs. For most solar experimenters, the most exciting component is the large fresnel lens that makes up part of the viewing screen.
