The main sequence of this "The bible of special occasions" (Los Angeles Times) is a 550-page calendar of information from January 1 to December 31, 2008, which gives an average of a page and a half for every day of the year. Information covers presidential proclamations (e.g. National Flag Week); religious holidays and observances (Rosh Hashanah/Jewish New Year); important days to remember (Daylight Saving Time); sponsored events (American Heart Month); ethnic and international observations (Chinese New Year); sports events (Kentucky Derby); historic anniversaries (Sinking of the Titanic); important birth anniversaries (William Shakespeare); and astronomical phenomena (Earth at perihelion).
