This second edition to the 2001 book is a treasure trove of information on the periodic table, the elements, and just about everything related to both. It is written for the general reader, so that the elements are arranged and discussed alphabetically, as distinct from textbooks which arrange the elements in their most logical order according to similarities. There are pros and cons to this: while the general reader finds this convenient and understandable, it is difficult to show the similarities between the elements. In any case, I think that this was the correct choice to make, as buyers of this book will not be chemists or scientists.
